The designer,
Yukiko Sato has been designing, making clothes and TESAGE Tote Bags since she created a design for her baby doll. She was educated in Art and Fashion at Womenfs Art University (JOSHIBI), Tokyo, Japan and Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York. She also learned the traditional art of Kimono making and dressing.
She is an experienced Kimono Dresser and Costume Designer/ Stylist for films and prints, has been working in Tokyo and New York City since 1988. Her career and travels in different countries helped her to become familiar with different type of fabrics. Her aim is to expand in all areas of Fashion and Home design.
TESAGE Bag means purse with handles in Japanese. Mom and Grandmaes handmade TESAGE Tote Bags were made of remnant fabric or used clothing and they could be conveniently folded and placed in another bag to be used when needed.
While Yukiko Sato is working as a Stylist / Costume Designer, having a pile of remnant fabric from garment design/ making. Her first TESAGE Tote Bags were made of remnant fabric and designed all by herself at home as a gift to her friends. Her friends love the TESAGE Tote Bags and encourage selling at stores.
Yukiko Sato TESAGE Tote Bags design uses vintage, vintage looking and ethnic, ethnic-looking fabrics from different countries such as Paris, Italy, Switzerland, India, Thai Land, China and Japan with a focus on classic and modern designs, fine fabrics, subtle color. They are well sewn with a French Seamed ( for No Lining TESAGE Tote Bags ) and double-stitched handles and have many practical uses. Yukiko Sato TESAGE Tote Bags is not only handy but also stylish.

Where sold TESAGE Tote Bags have been successfully sold at Hyperiality, Chelsea section of Manhattan in 1998. The TESAGE Tote Bags has also been sold at The Bunker in Kansas City, Missouri. A musician who bought a TESAGE Bag from Hyperiality introduced my creation to the owner of The Bunker, and the rest is history! Now TESAGE by Yukiko Sato are loved by over 5,000 customers internationally.
